The Problem

Among you

"Among you" is a project aiming to highlight young individuals who, by being themselves, defy the general illustration of a collective identity shaped by society, religion and the dominant culture. It reflects the different choices around the personal identity of Moroccan youth and documentation of their personal stories, their definition of their reality, and their different paths. I photograph these young individuals who dare to guide their destiny away from moral and societal codes, often pushing their limits further through a selection of portraits. Each has chosen an expression defining their own identity through creative activities, a pronounced style and appearance, or sexual orientation. These young people reflect the image of a young Morocco: alert, plural, accepting and claiming the right to be different and celebrating diversity.
